Support for Breast-Care Activities Worldwide

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women. As a company whose core business manufactures
women’s innerwear, Wacoal views the increased incidence of breast cancer as a social issue that must be addressed if it is to continue growing. In 14 countries and regions, we conduct breast-care activities that help develop social infrastructure and communities and aim to alleviate the suffering and sadness caused by breast cancer. In these activities, we promote prevention and screening, provide support for patients and their families that includes post-surgery assistance, and encourage better understanding of breast cancer among the general public.

Collaboration with NPOs

Cooperation with Pink Ribbon Kyoto

In Kyoto, where Wacoal is headquartered, doctors, nurses, NPOs, companies, students, Kyoto prefectural and municipal governments and mass media are joining forces under Pink Ribbon Kyoto to raise public awareness of the importance of the early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment of breast cancer.
Wacoal worked for the establishment of Pink Ribbon Kyoto in 2005, and since then we have conducted support activities, aiming to expand the crusade against breast cancer to the whole community. At the initial stage of Pink Ribbon Kyoto activities, the percentage of local women receiving breast cancer examinations was very low.

Cooperation with Japan Society of Breast Health

The Japan Society of Breast Health (JSBH), an authorized NPO, was founded in spring of 2000 by four doctors hoping to reduce the mortality rate caused by breast cancer. The JSBH is Japan's first organization aimed at increasing awareness for breast cancer.
Through awareness-raising activities including Pink Ribbon badge activities, publishing/survey activities, seminars, and walking events, the JSBH conveys correct information on breast cancer and contributes in decreasing the mortality rate.
From September 2002, Wacoal collaborated with the JSBH through activities such as sponsoring symposiums and cooperating in approval of Pink Ribbon Advisors.
