Management of Employees’ Health
To protect the safety and health of employees by preventing industrial accidents and disease, we have established Safety and Health Management Regulations and Policies, and ensure that these Regulations and Policies are understood and followed by all employees.
The Safety and Health Committee meets each month. The committee provides employees with health-related information that is pertinent to the season and implements various other activities to promote safety and health in the workplace.
Wacoal Health Insurance Union Implementing Various Health programs
Wacoal Health Insurance Union implements various health programs to help members maintain good health, including health guidance and prevention of disease. For example, a subsidy program is available to subsidize the cost of breast cancer screening, uterine cancer screening, cervical cancer vaccinations, thorough physical checkups, dental examinations, influenza vaccinations, etc.
In particular, Wacoal has devoted efforts to promoting the uptake of breast cancer screening among its employees, achieving a high screening rate of 81% (Japan’s overall breast cancer screening rate is 24.3% according to the National Livelihood Survey).
Health Consultation Desk (Wacoal Health Insurance Union)
The Health Development Office provides various health support services, such as first aid, regular health examinations and health guidance and counseling, to help employees work safely, comfortably and with peace of mind. These services are provided by industrial health professionals such as industrial physicians, psychiatrists, public health nurses and other registered nurses.
Health consultation service for employees and their families (external institution)
Health advisors (health specialists with national certification, such as public health nurses, other registered nurse, senior nutritionists) respond to concerns and questions from employees and their families about health issues. Consultation is available via a toll-free number or e-mail, 24 hours per day, 365 days a year. Therefore, not only employees working in offices, but also beauty advisors who have difficulty finding time during regular business hours and even employees’ families can access the service at their convenience.
Mental health counseling service (external institution)
To promote employees’ mental and emotional well-being, we have set up a mental health counseling service desk inside the company, where employees can receive free counseling from external professionals. Wacoal Health Insurance Union has signed a contract with a counseling center to ensure that employees and their families who are members of Wacoal Health Insurance Union can receive phone or face-to-face counseling from professional counselors. The privacy of the counselee and the content discussed during a counseling session is protected.
In-house Breast Cancer Screening with AIO
In line with our commitment to making a social contribution through our business activities, in 2009 we launched the Breast Cancer Examination Support Project, with the aim of increasing the breast cancer screening rate. Under this project, we lend a mobile breast cancer screening unit named “AIO” to medical institutions.
Wacoal is also working to increase the breast screening uptake rate among our employees, and we use AIO for in-house breast cancer screening.
We administer a questionnaire to employees who receive breast cancer screening, and make use of data collected through questionnaires to improve the operation of the Breast Cancer Examination Support Project.
